4.Ornamental Pepper 'Garda Fireworks'
Capsicum annuum 'Garda Fireworks' is an annual ornamental pepper grown mainly for it's colorful fruit which are edible but extremely hot. The slender fruits start off as small flowers.
This plant has a bushy habit and grows 16"-24" tall and wide. Keep pinching it back for a stronger, bushier plant. It can be grown in a very sunny window as a short lived house plant in the winter months. In the greenhouse I have always found ornamental peppers to be prone to whitefly.
5. Rex Begonia "Fireworks"
Begonia "Fireworks" has beautiful heart shaped foilage with black markings which are slightly off-center and "burst" out to the pink and burgundy edges.
Can be used outside in the summer months in containers or in a shade garden. It also makes a terrific house plant. Easy to care for as long as the soil is not constantly wet - allow it to dry down between watering times.
Grows 6"-12" tall and wide. Flowers are small and pink but not very prolific.
6. "Fireworks" Burgundy Coneflower
Echinacea "Burgundy Fireworks" are long blooming perennials - from early summer to October - that have reddish quill-like petals.
This very unique coneflower grows 18"-24" tall and wide.
7. Clematis "Fireworks"
Clematis "Fireworks" is a deciduous, large-flowering vine which typically grows 8-12'. Its 7"-8" flowers have deep pink striped petals and are edged in a light purple.
This clematis blooms from late spring to early summer, with an additional but smaller late summer to early fall bloom on the new growth.
Can be grown in full sun to part shade and, as with all clematis, should have their roots shaded by planting other choices like Hostas near its base.
8. Fireworks Golden Rod
Solidago rugosa 'Fireworks' is a cultivar of our native golden rod. It is more compact than its parent plant, reaching only 2'-3' in width and height and it flowers more densely.
This goldenrod should have full sun for best flowering and can be placed in a moister area than most. It would be lovely in a cut arrangement with its delicate, lacy form.
